All adoptions in California are considered open. This means that the birth mother and adoptive parents exchange identifying information. Openness then becomes a matter of degree. Most adoptions involve the adoptive parents sending letters and pictures to the birth mother after the birth but some may include visits.
“Allen Hultquist Adoption agency facilitated the adoption of our son in 1991. What a blessing we received. Not only did we receive a wonderful son, but we decided to always keep our friendship alive with his birthmother. 26 years later we could not be more proud of the man he has become, and the icing is we get to share all this with his birthmother.”

Open adoption means that the expectant parents and adoptive parents have certain identifying information about each other. Openness can also include contact with each other before and/or after the placement of the adoptive child.
“Allen, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You have so much compassion. I was so lost and you felt for me. My little girl has an awesome home and I will always keep you in a special place inside my heart for making it possible.”
